[ While he can’t exactly say he knows the feeling of having to deal with another version of himself in the flesh prior to all this, he can sort of guess how it’s making his younger self feel and because of that, he’s been trying to be considerate. You know. In his Scott Summers way.
Another swig of his beer, he licks over his lips and stares to the label on the bottle there — gives himself a second or two. ]
I thought I’d give you a bit of space. Let yourself figure some things out without having me around to complicate it any. I’m not hiding away if that’s what you’re worried about.
[Who said that he needed space!! Except he definitely did and it's annoying the other Scott just knew, but guess if anyone would know him, it's... him. And put himself away just to make things easier. Man. Sometimes he wishes that he was just an asshole instead of being considerate so that can be a bitch to him without feeling bad about it.]
Well, I figured everything out so you can come back and be... okay, I was going to say 'celebrated,' but I really know that you aren't the same Scott that the others have been referencing this entire time.
So, welcome to the reject Scott club.
[He doesn't really mean it, not when he thinks about the genuine bonds he's created with the others, but that doesn't mean he won't stop making these sort of comments either.]
Never thought of myself as a reject Scott Summers and don’t think you should either.
[ He gets that it’s weird and a little jarring to cope with sometimes, but. He doesn’t like the thought of himself feeling like a reject even among mutants. Humanity… that’s a whole other thing. ]
Not like I’m going to start thinking those here are rejects just because they’re not my team or a version of them I know.
[ So, you know. Cut it out, kiddo. ]
But I’ll be heading back soon. You been training while you’ve been here?
[...Fine. Fine. Mostly because he really doesn't think of the others as rejects, far from it. Logically they aren't anyway because they're all from the same world and they're the ones from a different reality, but more importantly, they accepted him anyway. He knows.
Even Julian pulled him aside to say that to him. Granted, that was before older!Scott showed up, but he can admit that his mind probably hasn't changed.]
Tried a few times in the past to control my blasts, but I don't have a visor. Everyone's pretty much told me that I need that in order to really use my powers.
Thinking of just asking Aurora to get me a visor? Or going to pull some Cyclops leader shit to do something? But yeah. It would be nice. To control my powers and stuff.
[Nice to have control in general. Protect his friends and family better.]
And yeah, just wearing my glasses all the time. I didn't even think there would be other options. Professor McCoy really only had the time to make my sunglasses before I found myself here.
I could always ask for another. Seems there’s also someone around who might be able to do a sort of mock up too. Not sure about that given the need for ruby quartz but it’s something to look into.
You’ll definitely need the sleep goggles. Makes sleeping a hell of a lot easier trust me.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask around, huh? Yeah, sure, I mean I'm not going to say no if I can finally get my hands on a visor. It's not like I enjoy blasting everything at full power-- but you get it.
[Guess he'd be the person that gets it the most, huh? Damn. Is he... actually relating to his other self? And not in just a 'we suck because we aren't Cyclops Prime' sort of way? Admittedly, it is nice to talk to another mutant who can't control his powers without help, even if that other mutant is him. No one else really struggles like he does; they can all control their mutation without problem it feels like.]
Yeah, rub it in the mean time, dick. :p Also since you're moving back to the mansion, rule one, I still get first dibs on everything.
Someone got it for me here. Along with my sleep goggles. Originally I'd only arrived with my glasses given I didn't have my visor on me at the time. But like I said, I can see about getting a visor for you.
[Small pause, before the next message comes through.]
Show what you can do with your powers?
[Show him what he can possibly do. See his potential in front of him instead of just hearing those stories that the other mutants sometimes talk about. Not that they go into full detail, but he just wants to see this for himself. Maybe it be something to actually work towards once he has a visor, a set sort of tangible goal he can make instead of just thinking. Dreaming.
Maybe even... aspire to be in some way, even if he won't admit it.]
( given how new he is to everything when it comes to their shared mutation, he's not really all that surprised with the wanting to see what he's capable of doing, let alone becoming. it's difficult for anyone else other than scott summers to really show him what it all entails, so. he gets it. would have been nice to have for himself when he'd first been going through it, maybe. )

I'm assuming that you get it.

I can see about getting you a visor. You'll also need something for sleep. What are you using now? Just the glasses?

But hey. Do you have your visor here? I didn't arrive here with anything but the clothes on my back, but wondering if you got a bonus or whatever.
